State Rep. Mike Hoadley this week voiced his strong support for the creation of a new Honor Park in Gladwin County to commemorate the heroic service of the county’s past and present veterans.
The current memorial dedicated to the veterans of Gladwin County has been severely weathered by the elements. To honor those who have served, Hoadley is seeking a grant in the state budget to help fund a new plan to replace the existing memorial with a new memorial park on the east side of the Gladwin County Courthouse.
“The people of Gladwin County who have honorably served this country deserve our full respect,” said Hoadley (R-Au Gres). “The construction of this park is a small but powerful gesture to demonstrate to our veterans that their service hasn’t gone unappreciated. The new park, with a new memorial granite wall, would show the extent of our gratitude. These people are heroes, and Gladwin County needs to recognize them accordingly.”
Hoadley continued by emphasizing the need to complete the project.
“We have the resources at the state level to get this done,” Hoadley said. “The project will serve as more than a memorial; the park will both honor our veterans and give us a new space for community gatherings. Its completion should be a priority.”
